Why HNO3 acts as oxidising agent only?

Because unlike other metal dissolution reaction. H+is not reduced but NO3-,

Heya !!
In HNO3 the oxidation state of N is +5
Max and minimum oxidation state of N are (-3,+5)
so it can be reduced only and hence it acts as an oxidising agent only .
