Sand is much more looser so it tends to spread more when weight is applied to it. So, if we were stand on a sandy beach then the area of contact between our foot and the sand would be greater. Pressure is inversely proportional to area, So if area will increase, pressure will decrease and if area will decrease pressure will increase. Therefore it is difficult to walk on sand bed.
