Humans are the only livings beings who have not only used the environment but also transformed it to suit their own needs. This in turn has led to urbanisation and overpopulation. Due to activities like :

1. Clearing of forests: unregulated cutting of trees
2. Mining: exploitation of mineral resources
3. Industrialization: unwanted waste products released from factories
4. Agriculture:  usage of fertilizers and  chemicals has stripped the soil of its nutrients

The overall advancement in science and technology has resulted in environmental degradation
