Human beings prefer to settle in the plains for 3 major reasons :-
I) ALLUVIUM - In most plains, there several rivers which carry essential minerals for the soil. These are also carried with silt and other substances that make up alluvial soil. This type of soil is extremely fertile and many crops can be grown in this region. This makes it very suitable for agriculture.
II) WATER AVAILABILITY - Due to the many rivers, there is plenty of water for everyone and becomes easily accessible for everyone. Also the water from the rivers can be used for irrigation and general purposes.
III) CLIMATE - Climate in plains are moderate without excess of temperature difference between summers and winters. The weather is also suitable for agriculture since there are no extremes in pressure or temperature.
