Many Times more than two orbitalsare involved. ... But in Hybrid, all of theorbitals are overlapping simultaneously. So if we make a bond by using more orbitals with proper alignment, it should be more stable. That's Why in most of the cases (not always), the Hybrid is more stable than canonical structures.
