Why hydrogen is collected by the downward displacement of water and not by air , even though it is lighter than air ?

hey mate here is ur answer.....

Hydrogen is collected by downward displacement of water coz....it is less denser than water and in soluble in water ...

It is not collected by air coz it is highly combustible and gets oxidised when it comes in contact with air and burns with pale blue flame and produces water thus..
