Why hydrogen was placed along with the alkali metals in the periodic table. How does it resemble halogens. Why do you think Mendeleev named it as periodic table?

the position of hydrogen is still not fixed in the periodic table some properties of Hydrogen are same as that of alkalis well some are same as that of halogens hydrogen is a good reducing agent as that of alkalis and it also is ready to lose electrons to gain stability while in case of halogens hydrogen is ready to accept electrons to gain stability it is a non metal like them and Mand leave name did periodic table because in it the elements are periodic functions the functions of these elements are repeated or after a fixed interval and these functions are placed in a tabular form therefore it is known as a table
