why I should not keep curd and sour substance in copper vessel...?
but copper is lower in metal reactivity series than hydrogen.....so that means that copper won't be able to displace the hydrogen atoms of (sour substance)....
thus we should we able to store sour things in copper container as there will be no reaction.........but still....it is said not to do it
plsss...tell why....and write your own explanation in your own words 20 points

Answer:

As copper is a metal which is denotedd by (Cu) symbol . As it is a metal it has all metallic properties like it is lustrous, malleable, ductile ,strong and many more .

Curd is an acid containing milk product called lactic acid.

When we keep acid (curd) in copper vessel , they react with each other and produce hydrogen gas and salt...

Metal +Acid=Salt+hydrogen gas

This hydrogen gas is poisonous if combine with metals. Which is harmful to our bodies heath.

Answer:

As curd contains lactic acid and when it is placed in a copper vessel containing copper(Cu) as main element. Therefore, copper reacts with curd in the form of

Metal + Acid ----> Salt + Hydrogen gas

As, this H2 gas is poisonous if it combines with metals ,it is harmful for health.
