Why ice-cream seller sprinkles salt on ice?

Hey friend nice question.
Ice cream is in the frozen state when served. If it comes in contact with the air it will melt and you will not be able to eat it. Salt acts as a layer between ice cream and atmosphere.so, ice-cream seller sprinkles salt on ice.
