no, Mendel not only crossed tall plant and dwarf plants he even crossed other characters such as green and yellow seeds and round and wrinkled seeds etc.

hope it helps!!

Kuldeepnehra: Question is why in test cross the traits governed by Dominant Gene with the traits governed by Recessive Gene, irrespective of tall plant with dwarf, round seed with wrinkled seed,or any trait governed by Dominant Gene with the traits governed by Recessive,Just to get know whether the individual tested is homozygous dominant or heterozygous
rudeawakening: kk thank you sir!!
rudeawakening: it means to test the genes are dominant or recessive he opted tall and dwarf plant.
Kuldeepnehra: It's an example, actually he wants to get know for what the test cross is carried out, that's all

Test cross is performed to identify whether the organism is homozygous or heterozygous. As tall plant can either be of Genotype TT or Tt so to get know either it is TT or Tt the tall plants are crossed with dwarf plants (tt) .If offsprings of Test cross are all tall, then it is TT genotype and if offsprings are half tall and half dwarf, then the Genotype tested is heterozygous Tt.So Mendel performed test cross between Tall (TT or Tt ) and Dwarf plant (tt).Hope it helps.
