Hello friend!!
Rajdeep here...
Partition of India was proposed by Muslim League leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah....Congressmen did not accept it...still they accepted:
1. To avoid communal riots from breaking out.
2. To avoid Civil War within India.
3. To stop the system of Separate electorates (as India is a secular country).
4. All leaders thought that it is better to have a small country with a strong centre than a big country with weak centre..
So India was divided into two independent Dominions....
Thanks!
