India adopted a multiparty system because India has a large cultural and social diversity which cannot be absorbed by just one or 2 parties.

India has taken up multi party system because it is a more suitable form of system for democracies
it is also because of india's vast size, because one and two party systems cannot absorb the views and opinions of everyone from each state
