Indian geographical location makes it a recipient of abundant amount of sunlight & thus, solar energy. Also, the summer generally lasts for 7–8 months here in India, making it more of a attraction for the solar power developers.
Now, talking about the government policies fostering the growth of solar power plants in India, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has declared an audacious target of developing 100 Gigawatts of solar capacity in India that in itself speaks about the Indian capacity to generate electricity through solar energy.

Solar energy can be harnessed on the places which are near to the equator , this is because the more closer they are to the equator the more sunlight they will recieve ..
India is the country that lies north of the equator that too only few distance away from it , that is why it is in a better position to harness solar energy .
