why India is known as subcontinent I want in long
Answers
India is often called a subcontinent because it is a distinct landmass, not just a country. While it has many features of a continent, it is not as big as one, so is not considered a continent.
India was once a continent (or at least a very large island). Due to continental drift, India moved north and became part of Asia.

India is now joined with the continent of Asia, but is a distinct area separated by the Himalayas. Originally it was a separate geologic plate, but has collided and merged with Asia.
Indian subcontinent does not constitute only India, but it also constitutes other SAARC countries that are Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Maldives. This group of countries are combined together to be called Indian subcontinent as once in the History, they were a part of India. But, because of their demands or due to some geographical positional reasons, they are now separate countries. But, now also these seven countries' geographical and climatic features match each other because of the reason that geographically also they were joined together, and again this was the reason because of which the Indian subcontinent's climatic and geographical features are different from other countries of Continent of Asia.
Answer: Before knowing why India is called a subcontinent let's recollect a continent!
A continent is the huge landmass surrounded by water mass from all sides, having it's own and distinct physical setup ( physical features) and cultural background, e.g., Asia, Africa....
Now let's talk about India
1. India, being one of the nations of Asia, has its own distinct physical features and cultural background which makes it a separate Geographical Entity (Geographical Landmass).
2.The only restriction is, it is not surrounded by water mass from all sides.
3.It has water mass surrounding it from three sides only.
Hence, a prefix sub-is added to India making it a sub-continent and having all the characteristics of a continent!
