The South Pole is the  place where temperature reach freezing low levels on earth. Poles get very little sunlight; Sun never rises above 23 degrees in the sky. And for half of the year, there is no sun.

The North Pole is very cold; It is approximately -30f average. But the south pole is cold, around -60f.

The reason for this is why Seattle is quite temperate, even if it is on the same latitude as International Falls, the coldest place on the continental US. It is next to the Pacific Ocean. Water benefits and gradually loses heat, so it acts as a huge heat reservoir, which keeps it about the same temperature throughout the year. The air that flows in the east will be controlled by it.

Antarctica has also cooled due to being very hilly. The mountain is cold because the atmosphere is thin; The atmosphere controls the temperature, like water.

Antarctica is a land mass, which achieves profit relatively quickly and loses. (Ever lived in the desert? They may actually be warm during the day, but they get very cold in the night.) The North Pole is actually a lot of water; It's just frozen on top. Get down or wait for the climate to warm up, and the ice can melt.

Earth's polar regions are both cold, mainly because they get very little solar radiation compared to tropical and mid-latitudes. Either the Sun does not grow more than 23.5 degrees from the horizon on the pole and there are six months of continuous dark experience in both places. In addition, most of the sun's light shining on the polar region is visible from bright white surface.

Compared to the North Pole, the South Pole is so cold that it sits on the top of a very thick ice sheet, which sits on a continent itself. The surface of the ice sheet at the South Pole is more than 9,000 feet in height - more than one mile and more than half the sea level. Antarctica is the tallest continent on Earth. In comparison, the North Pole lives in the middle of the Arctic Ocean, where the floating ice surface rides only one leg or above from the surrounding sea. The Arctic Ocean also acts as an effective heat reservoir, heats the cold atmosphere in the winter and pulls the heat from the atmosphere in the summer.
