Several industrial cities are located along the coast. The proximity to port provides easy access to marine routes. Exporting bulky goods will be cost effective. It is because of the port facility that most of the industries are located along the coast.

industries are located near the coast because:
- the land and sea breeze drives the polluted air into the sea
- the cost of transportation is reduced as the cargo ships unload their goods on the ports and being located near the coast reduces transportation cost
- industries at times can also use tidal energy(a form of renewable source)to back up their power supply
- sea acts as a place where they can dispose off the waste
