Insectivores plants can synthesize food since they have chlorophyll. The quality of soil is thin or poor providing insufficient nutrients to the plant. Hence they attract, trap and kill insects and absorbs nutrients (mainly nitrogen) available from it. Hence are called partial heterotroph.
