Ionic bonds are solid because if their higher reactivity and there exists strong electrostatic forces between the cations and anions. Hope this helps swa.

we know that ionic bond formed by the loss or gain or electron by an aton...by lossing an electron atoms get charged...and there is an electrostatic force acting between these charge..this force is strong in nature...and hence bond formed between them is strong...so if bond is strong then compounds are solid in nature...therefore ionic bond are solid in nature..
