Why ionic bonds have high melting and boiling points??

ionic bonds are the bonds formed by complete transfer of electrons between two atoms.Which gains electrons develops a negative charge and the atom which loses electrons develop positive charge. Due to this there is strong force of attraction between positive and negative charges so the melting and boiling pt. of ionic bonds is high....
