Why ionic compounds have high melting point? ​

Ionic compounds are held together by electrostatic forces of attraction. This causes it difficult to break those bonds to change the state. Thus they have high melting points.

because of the strong atractive electrostatic force holding the opposility charged ions together and a large number of ionic bonds in crystal lattice.
