2)irrigation makes the soil moist which is essential for germination of seed and elongation of roots to plants.
3)nutrients present in soil get easily dissolve in water and absorbed by plant roots.
4)modern multipurpose dams are not only supply water for irrigation but also control flood and generate hydroelectric power .
5)irrigation is reliable and regular source of water supply to the crops on the other hand dependence on the rainfall for the crop development is seasonal and unpredictable.
