Why is 18+ considered the legal age of maturity for everything?

As per the rules and regulations of the Indian government the proper age in which a person's mind gets almost fully developed the person gets his/her common sense fully and matures. Therefore the indian government has declared the age of 18 plus to vote a particular party in elections of the country.
