Why is 2^-1 = 1/2?
Why do we do that? How can it be proved? And why this way?

2^-1 is nothing but 1/2^1 the property a^ -n is nothing but 1/a^n

it is law of indices and the imp poperties are a^n * a^m = a^n+m
a^-n = 1/a^n
