Why is 3 methyl butane not considered as a isomer of pentane?

3-methyl butane is a wrong IUPAC name. If you count it from the other side of the carbon chain, you'll get the name 2-methyl butane which is an isomer of butane... Also called as isopentane.

Hence, 3-methyl butane is not an isomer rather 2-methyl butane is an isomer of pentane.
