why is a conservation of water required
Answers
Answer:
Water conservation means the practice of using water efficiently to reduce unnecessary wastage of water. Water conservation is important because fresh clean water is a limited resource and mankind, animals, birds and all all life forms need water for survival. Water pollution and population explosion are causing scarcity of drinking water in our cities, towns and almost every where. Though the earth is about 70% water, only about 3% is drinkable and the remaining part are salty sea water. We must conserve water in every possible ways. Some ways to conserve water and prevent wasting of water are:
1) Rain water harvesting is the best way of conservation of water.
2) Fix any leak in your toilet and shower quickly.
3) Check for leaks in water pipes both inside and outside the house.
4) Do not waste water by taking unnecessary long showers.
5) While brushing your teeth or shaving, turn off the tap when not in use.
6) Rinse your vegetables in a bowl instead of washing them in a running water tap.
7) Water your lawn only when it needs it and not as and when you want to.
8) Plant drought-resistant trees and plants. There are many beautiful trees and plants which thrive with less water.
9) Reuse the water for rinsing vegetables for watering your garden.
10) Use modern efficient irrigation systems.
1@) Children love to play under a hose or sprinkler on a hot day. But this practice is wasteful of precious water and should be discouraged.
Water is a finite resource. If not managed properly it will result in acute scarcity in the future. Let us conserve water for the preservation of human life and other life forms on Earth.
