When a flying stone suddenly hits a glass, the stone is in motion and the glass is in rest. so, due to the first law of motion, the glass breaks becoz it tends to stay in the state of rest and opposes the stone due to inertia of rest.and bcoz the force applied by the stone is too much, the glass breaks.

Answer:
The flying pebble has a high velocity. When it strikes the glass pane, the velocity becomes zero in a very short interval of time i.e., the rate of change of momentum is large. Therefore, the force applied on the glass pane is large and so, the glass pane shatters.
