Frogs lay so many eggs because as they do not look after their young most do not survive to adulthood. From the three thousand eggsthat one female lays, only around five will become adult frogs.

YES, fish and frog produce a huge number of eggs compare to hens because of the following reasons:
1)External fertilization occurs in fish and frog.
2)The females lays a vast number of eggs in water & males releases some millions of sperms on to them.
3)Eggs may be carried to a long distance by water currents or they may be eaten by predators.
4)So,fertilization is a chance factor & controlled by nature.
Hence it is inevitable to produce a vast number of eggs by fish & frog.
