Why is a rock salt prism is used instead of a glass prism to obtain the infrared spectrum?

The infrared spectrum is absorbed by glass prism and therefore, we cannot see the infrared spectrum through a glass prism. Whereas, a rock salt prism doesn't absorb these infrared spectrum and we could see the infrared spectrum through it.
