Why is a series arrangement not used for connecting domestic electrical appliances in a circuit?

In this arrangement, if any one of the component stops working,then the circuit gets broken up and none of the device will work.
All the appliances have only one switch due to which they cannot be turned on or off separately.
The appliances do not get the same voltage (220V) as that of the power supply line.

◾◾ There is voltage division in series circuits. Each component of a series circuit receives a small voltage for a large supply voltage. As a result, the amount of current decreases and the device becomes hot.
