Why is a small amount of oestrogen / testosterone present in males / females also?

The adrenal glands and other tissues produce the remainder of a woman's testosterone. Like a man's testes, a woman's ovaries are stimulated to produce testosterone by signals from LH. Women produce much smaller quantities of testosterone than men, but none-the-less it is an important hormone for women.
