Aluminium chloride(AlCl₃) is a covalent bond. Since, aluminium ion have a very high charge, ie 3+, hence the difference between the calculated and the experimental value of the lattice energy will be very high. Besides, the atomic radius of the chlorine atom is very small. Therefore, aluminium chloride is a covalent bond.
