Answer :
In the play 'The Dear Departed' by Stanley Houghton, Amelia Slater is very edgy and nervous in the beginning because her father, Abel Merryweather had died. She wanted to keep his bureau for herself as she liked it very much. She was in the process of shifting it downstairs so that she could tell her sister that he had given it to them before he passed away. She was worried that the Jordans might arrive before she had completed the task of shifting the bureau and try to claim it for themselves.
