Why is an approval of NBA (National Biodiversity Authority) required for any foreign organization before it obtains any biological resource and knowledge associated with it from our country?

NBA (National Biodiversity Authority) is an authority institute of the country that is responsible for the conservation of natural assets related to biodiversity. It is their duty to monitor any activity that have an affect on the nature and atmosphere and take action against any illegal activity or anything could have  damaging results.

Therefore it is very important for any other country to take proer permission form NBA before acquiring any biological resources due to the data update and biological safety.

It is due to the Convention on Biological Diversity which states its principles as follows. The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a legal and binding multilateral environmental agreement. It has 194 countries or contracting Parties as its members and has three main objectives –

(1) conservation of all types of biological diversity, (

2) sustainable use of all types of diversity and

(3) Ensure equitable and fair sharing of benefits for every use. India signed and entered into it on 29th December 1993.

Therefore, its principles are binding for any foreign organization before it obtains any biological resource and knowledge associated with our country.
