Heya.......!!!!
_____________________________
As we know that if we land on cushion Or thick sponge , the surface of these both squeeze down and this is to increase the time of the athlete's fall to stop after making the jump and the athlete is not injured .
We know that => F × t = Impulse
and impulse is equal to change in momentum .
→ F × t = m( v- u )
Now when the athlete jumped on Cushion or thick sponge then the impulsive time is increased and the Force decreases But if the athlete jumped on Road then the impulsive time would be less and the force would be more and the athlete would be injured .
That's why they are made jumped on Cushion Or thick sponge .
