why is anaerobic respiration less efficient

Answer:

Much less energy is released during anaerobic respiration as compared to aerobic respiration. This is bcoz the breakdown of glucose is incomplete in anaerobic respiration. Hence anaerobic respiration is less efficient

because less energy is released during anaerobic respiration in comparison to aerobic respiration.

for comparison :- 1 molecule of glucose breaks down to release 2 molecules of ATP whereas it is 38 molecules of ATP in aerobic respiration.

AND , 2 ATP molecules is not sufficient to meet the energy requirements .
