Hey!
The reason aqua regia can dissolve platinum (and metals like gold and palladium) is that each of its two component acids (i.e., hydrochloric acid and nitric acid) carries out a different function. While nitric acid is an excellent oxidizing agent, the chloride ions from the HCl form coordination complexes with platinum ions, thereby removing them from the solution.
Hope this helps ✌✌

Answer:
Explanation:Aqua Regina also known as royal water is a mixture of HNO3 and HCL in the ratio of 1:3,and it is made to dissolve the outer layer of metals for polishing like gold and platinum. Au and Pt gets dissolved in it because they are very malleable and ductile and also the solution is concenterated.
