Assam is unique, because -
The Brahmaputra Valley civilisation of Asaam is as old as the Indus Vally Civilization; i.e. Mahenjodaro, Harappa etc.
Raja Bhagadatta of Mahabharata, a friend of Duryudhana was the king of ancient Assam.
Tezpur of Asaam is famous for the ancient Hari-Har Yudh, a battle between Lord Siva and Lord Krishna, regarding the kidnap of Yadab prince Anirudha and his marriage with Usha, an ancient princes of Tezpur (Assam).
The Ahom kingdom of Assam had defeted the Mugal army of than Emperor Aurangjeb, in the famous BATTLE OF SARAIGHAT.

Srimanta Sankar Dev is our GURU, Bhagavat Gita our holy book, and Lord Krishna is our God, but interestingly, we do not follow the VEDAS !!
