they are called decomposers because they grow on dead and decaying animals and break down the animals flesh by spiting some acid and make them into simpler form.

advantages:

1. due to the process of breaking down the animals flesh into simplert form that will make the soil rich in humus.

2. it prevents soil erosion by stopping the water run off on the slopes as the trees grow  where there is humus  and roots of those trees stop the water runoff
