The term body is made up of different type of organ system, which is in turn made up of different organs. A group of tissues leads to the formation of different of organs. A group of cell joins and forms respective tissue. From this it can be understood that the structural formation of body requires cells as its base. Hence it can be inferred that cell is structural unit of life.  

Human body has different type of organ system which performs different type of functions. The digestive system helps in food digestion, the circulatory system helps in circulation of required materials all over the body, the excretory system excretes waste etc. All these functions of the respective organ system are based upon the cells present in them. Hence it can be inferred that cell is functional unit of life.
