Here is your answrr.
Cell : The basic unit of life
What a cell is?
The basic structural and functional unit of life that is capable of doing all the functions necessary for being alive is callled as cell. A cell is capable of independent existence and performing all the functions that are essential for life. Anything or any organism that is less than a complete structure of cell doesn't ensure independent living. This is why viruses are considered connecting link between living and non living organisms. Viruses attack the host cells and use their cellular functions to divide. Hence, cell is known as the fundamental or basic unit of life.
Cell was discovered by Robert Hooke in 1665. Later, Anton Von Leeuwenhoek discovered and described living cells.
Cell as Building block : Just like bricks of a building our body is made up of cells.
Hope it helps

so there is a answer of your question...
Cell is referred to as the fundamental unit of life both functionally and structurally because they form the building blocks (bricks) of the main parts of organisms , forexample , the cells are the basic parts of any organ such as the heart, these cells may accumulate to produce tissues that are specialized to their function and these tissues together for the organs and these organs form the organ systems (in case of heart, the circulatory system)!
Hence if there are no bricks there is no building. So, if there are no cells there is no organism (whether plant or multi-cellular organism), hence no life.
Hope this helps you ,
