It is closer to semi permeable though, but its permeability is lower than that of the cellular membrane, which is semi-permeable. A cell wall is selectively permeable, as it allows molecules upto 30-60kD to pass easily without the expenditure of energy (passive diffusion). Molecules like, water, CO2.
