Why is central government not compelling states to adopt hindi as official language?

Because states like Tamil Nadu and most of the southern states don't have english as their regional language so they oppose the central government to compell States to Hindi as the official language.

➡️India is a home of many languages like Kannada,Telugu,Tamil etc tho the Hindi speakers are in majority and the other language speakers are in minority our government give equal importance to all so if they make Hindi a official language there can be rebellion.
