Why is communism so popular, although it has various non-negligible disadvantages? For instance, a major demerit is that a political leader can remain in power as long as he/she wants to and the other opposing political parties are suppressed by the main party. Also, people are unable to raise their voice and freedom of speech and expression is not available. Examples of Countries standing on these ideologies are China and Russia.

China and Russia have mono party system and don't follow a democratic party system like in India. China's People Congress is hierarchical in selecting their leaders. so it is communist party.
