Burning leaves leads to air pollution and many health related problems as well as fire hazards. But composting makes the soil rich and fertile which can be used to grow plants.

Her friend,
Here is your answer:

Composting is the process in which the leaves decay due to the bacteria and forms compost which is useful for enriching the soil fertility.
Burning is the process in which the leaves broken down into ashes in presence of oxygen. It produces air pollution.
Composting just turns the biodegradable leaves into useful components and it brings back the nutrients in the soil. But burning of leaves produces pollution. Large amount of smoke is produced which is not necessary. It mostly produces harmful & toxic carbon monoxide. Due to this, many respiratory diseases occur.
So, composting is better than burning of leaves.
