Why is cooling in hill station

Hill stations are situated on a high altitude . The more the altitude the lesser the heat.   Humidity is also less there. Air is thin on hill stations and hence there is less heat. A hill station is on a hill thus at a higher elevation in comparison to the surrouding area. Higher elevation areas are often cooler then lower elevation areas.
