The climatic conditions of both the regions are ideal for the "cultivation of cotton". The moisture rich atmosphere due to the proximity to the sea and the moderate temperature are ideal for cotton. If the temperature is too hot and dry then it is not possible to get long cotton threads. Also the sea docks help in cheap transportation. Apart from these states it is cultivated in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
