Cricket is a peculiar game because Cricket has been governed by a series of Codes of Law for more than 250 years. Today, there are 42 laws in cricket. The custodian of the laws is the Marylebone Cricket Club, based at Lord's Cricket Ground in London. The size of the pitch is specified - 22 yards but the size of the ground is not .
A match can go on for five days and still end in a draw .

The peculiarities of cricket are :-
i) Cricket is a peculiar game because a Test match can go on for 5 days and still end up in a draw unlike football will generally gets over in an hour and half of playing time.
ii) Even baseball, a long drawn out bat and ball game completes nine innings in less than half the time it takes to play a limited overs cricket match.
iii) Another peculiarity of cricket is that the length of pitch is specified but the shape and size of the ground is not. Grounds may be oval like Adelaide oval or nearly circular like Chepauk in Chennai.
