Diffusion is insufficient to meet the oxygen requirement of multicellular organisms like human because all the cells are not direct contact in environment and diffusion is a slow process. Diffusion is too slow to cover the distance between the gas exchange surface and the sites where the oxygen is required.

Answer:

in multicellular organisms like human beings diffusion is insufficient to meet the oxygen requirements of the body because of this following reasons :-

  • diffusion is a very very slow process cause it can fulfill the requirements of our body the oxygen

  • in human beings will have to travel last distance inside our body to reach each and every part of the cell

  • the volume of human body is so big that oxygen can not diffuse into all the internal cells of the human body quickly

  • also this is a reason respiratory pigments are present in the multicellular organism also.
