Why is direct absorption of HCl gas in water not feasible....?

It is because HCl is highly acidic
and we know that acid should not be pour directly in water as they can lead to highly exothermic Reaction
{CAUTION - so don't try Motti, to pour HCl directly in water. your face will get worst..lol}
