The process of direct democracy was quite simple as people gathered on the streets and took unanimous decisions however in modern context, when population has increased to huge level it is not possible to practice direct democracy.
Instead, people elect their respective representatives, who then combine together, to elect the prime minister.

The most important reason why direct democracy is not possible today is that direct democracy can only work in a small population of acity - state and nowadays the population is growing at very high speed and this method of democracy cannot be employed
